Analysis of Transmission Characteristics on Neutron Guide

Neutron guides with neutron total-reflection properties on the inner surface are used for efficient transport of small neutron losses from general reactors and spallation neutron sources to instruments far from the source. In order to understand neutron transmission characteristics according to the shape and specification of these neutron guides, the method of the neutron acceptance diagram was used. We used the CG1 guide system located in the "HANARO" cold neutron laboratory building as a guides for the evaluation, the system is composed of in-pile guide, curved guide and straight guide. In order to understand the characteristics of the CG1 guide system, how to change the energies and intensity distributions of the neutrons emitted from the neutron source was acquired when they pass through each guide. Also, gain of guide according to using in-pile guide and the cause of the asymmetry of the neutron intensity by the curved guide were evaluated. Futhermore, the combination condition of the curved guide and the straight guide to improve the asymmetry was evaluated.
