We fabricated quantum-dot-doped nematic liquid cells (QD-NLC) with various QD emission wavelengths and measured the capacitance and the order parameter of the fabricated cells against the quantum-dot's emission wavelength by using a capacitor method and a polarization-dependence absorbance method, respectively. We developed a theory that explained the relations between the capacitance and the order parameter and estimated various optical constants, such as the isotropic capacitance, activation energy, rotational viscosity, and response time, of the QD-NLC cells; the results were in excellent agreement with the values published in the literature. Typical response times obtained in the experiment were 301 ms, 344 ms, 405 ms, 457 ms and 485 ms at QD emission wavelengths of 470 nm, 490 nm, 510 nm, 560 nm and 630 nm, respectively.
