Abstract
The law of refraction has been studied by many scientists for a long time. In this study, I investigated Ptolemy's refraction law from the physics education perspectives. The main discussions are as follows: First, Ptolemy’s study of refraction followed the entire process of scientific inquiry in school science and can be used as a good example of inquiry teaching. Second, I discussed about research ethics with Ptolemy's distortion of experiment data and proposed the necessity of refraction experiment without using trigonometric function. Third, the interpretation of refraction law using temporal brevity, that is, the principle of least time should be included in secondary physics education.
