Abstract
The laser-diode-pumped actively Q-switched 1064~nm Nd:YVO$_4$ laser with acousto-optic effects was constructed. When the pulse repetition rate was 8~kHz and the incident pump power was 19~W, the output powers of the 1064 nm fundamental beam in the linear cavity and the folded cavity were 5.75 W and 4.60 W, respectively. The output power slope efficiencies for the pump power were 33.8\% and 28.6\%, respectively. Using LBO (Lithium triborate, LiB$_3$O$_5$), the frequency-doubled 532 nm second-harmonic-generation (SHG) output powers from the linear extracavity and the L-shaped folded intracavity were measured at 2.25 W and 2.60 W, respectively, and the output power slope efficiencies for the pump power were measured at 14.4\% and 15.4\%, respectively. The shortest pulse widths were 10~ns in the extracavity and 25.2~ns in the intracavity, with a pulse repetition rate of 8~kHz and a pump power of 17 W.
