Polyacrylonitrile (PAN) / single-walled carbon nanotube (SWNT) nano-composite films were prepared and the degrees of SWNT alignment in the drawn films were studied by using polarization Raman spectroscopy. The measured dependences of the Raman G-band intensity on the SWNT concentration, the draw ratio, and the angle between the polarization of the incident light and the drawing direction showed that the drawing process tended to align the SWNT along the drawing direction. The full width at half maximum (FWHM) of the SWNT anglular distribution was estimated by comparing the measurement with the theoretical calculations based on the Lorentzian angular distribution function.
