### Abstract

Nuclear quadrupole coupling constants, the asymmetry parameters, temperature dependence and the relaxation process of $^7$Li nuclei in ferroelectric LiTaO$_3$ and LiNbO$_3$ single crystals grown by using the Czochralski method are discussed. Experimental data obtained by using wide-line nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and Fourier transform (FT) NMR spectrometers are used in this analysis. The zero-field splitting parameters of the paramagnetic impurity ions obtained from the electron magnetic resonance (EMR) experimental data and from the superposition model calculation are compared for each cation site in the LiTaO$_3$ and the LiNbO$_3$ single crystals. The substitutional site locations of the paramagnetic impurity ions in the single crystals are analyzed. An EMR study of the Mg-doped LiNbO$_3$ single crystal is also discussed.
