Study of Gamma Detection for the CsI Detector in the Low-LAMPS by Using Various Radioisotopes

Abstract

The Low-LAMPS (Low-Energy Large Acceptance Multi-Purpose Spectrometer) detector system will be installed for use in a study to understand the nuclear symmetry energy in the low energy level at the RAON (Rare isotope Accelerator Complex for On-line experiments). The Low-LAMPS consists of a Si-CsI detector system and a neutron detector array. The Si-CsI detector is designed for identifying the particles produced in heavy-ion collisions and determining their energies. A precise measurement of the total deposited energy is an important role for the CsI detector in particular. The relation of the energy loss to the total energy measured in a detector can be used for identifying particles. For verification of the suitability of the Si-CsI detector, the characteristic energy spectra was measured by using various radioisotopes, such as $^{137}$Cs, $^{54}$Mn, and $^{65}$Zn.

Low-LAMPS(Low Energy Large Acceptance Multi-Purpose Spectrometer) 검출기 시스템은 핵 및 핵물질의 대칭 등의 연구를 위해 RAON(Rare isotope Accelerator complex for On-line experiments) 가속기에 설치될 예정이다. Low-LAMPS(Low energy-Large Acceptance Multi-Purpose Spectrometer)에 설치될 검출기에는 입자들의 에너지를 측정할 SI-CsI 검출기와 중성자의 에너지를 측정할 중성자 검출기가 있다. Si-CsI 검출기는 무거운 핵충돌에서 생성된 입자들의 에너지와 종류를 확인하기 위하여 제작되었다. 특히 CsI 검출기는 충돌 후에 나온 입자들의 전체 손실에너지를 정밀하게 측정하는 중요한 역할을 하게 된다. 검출기내에서 잃어버린 에너지와 에너지와의 관계를 측정하여 입자의 종류를 확인하는데 사용된다. 검출기의 적합성을 확인해보기 위하여 다양한 방사선 동위원소($^{137}$Cs, $^{54}$Mn, $^{65}$Zn)들의 에너지 스펙트럼을 측정하여 CsI 검출기의 성능을 알아보고자 한다.
