The purpose of this study is to evaluate the reliability of the Monte Carlo simulation programs GATE and MCNP6 for simulating the performance of radiation shielding devices. Medical diagnostic tube voltages of 70, 90, 110, and 130 kVp were used for a comparative analysis of the shielding rates for the devices on the market. As a result of the simulations, we obtained a maximum error of 2.81% for a tube voltage of 70 kVp and and a lead(Pb) the closes of 0.25 mm, Pb, and a minimum error of 0.04% for a those voltage of 110 kVp and 0.35 mm. The average error was 1.05%, which is small enough to confirm that the graphs from the two programs were quite similar considering the statistical error and code differences. Hence, we conclude that the GATE and the MCNP6 programs show consistent results and can be safely employed as simulation tools for radiation shielding devices.

본 연구의 목적은 방사선방어용기구 성능 평가를 위한 과학적 검증 도구로서 몬테카를로 시뮬레이션 프로그램인 GATE와 MCNP6의 신뢰성에 대해 평가하는 것이다. GATE와 MCNP6를 이용하여 시중에 판매되고 있는 방사선방어용기구의 종류별 납 당량(Lead equivalent)에 따른 차폐율 값 비교 분석을 위해 의료 진단용 관전압 70, 90, 110, 130 kVp를 사용하였다. 시뮬레이션 결과 관전압 70 kVp, 0.25 mmPb에서 최대 오차 2.81%, 110 kVp, 0.35 mmPb에서 최소 오차 0.04% 값을 획득하였고, 평균 오차율은 1.05%로 나타났다. 평균 오차 1%대는 두 시뮬레이션의 확률적 통계변동 오차, 코드 차이 등을 고려할 때 그래프가 상당히 일치한다는 것을 확인하였고 두 몬테카를로 프로그램은 방사선방어용기구의 시뮬레이션 도구로서 유용함을 증명하였다.
