Characteristics of Phase Space in a 2D Time-dependent Free-electron Laser with a Two-section Wiggler

Abstract

We developed an extended 2D time-dependent free-electron laser with two-section wiggler. We studied the intensity of radiation and the phase space by using an extended 2D time-dependent simulation code that we developed. We used a 1$ ^{st}$ wiggler length of 0.6 m, 2$^{nd}$ wiggler length of 1.0 m wigglers were 0.6 and 1.0 m, respectively, and these of the quadrupoles were 0.4 m. The characteristics of the phase space of the electron and the energy distributions were studied for the pass number at various times. The intensity of radiation and the phase space were analyzed at various times from -10 $\mu$s to 10 $\mu$s and for various detuning parameters. The radiation intensity was found to be optimized at a detuning parameter of 0.4% at $t$ = 1.3 $\mu$s by using a 2D time-dependent FEL code with a two-section wiggler.
